It seems like it was only yesterday that we announced that Ángel Manuel Soto had been tapped to direct an adaptation of DC’s long-running comic-book imprint Blue Beetle for the big screen. Now, it has been announced, the Puerto Rican-born phenom is poised to direct a “stand-alone” strand of the Transformers tent-pole franchise for Paramount that will be separate from the kinectic universe of Michael Bay‘s films. (and perhaps a welcome change)
Soto would be working from a script penned by Netflix’s Marvel series The Defenders (2017) showrunner Marco Ramirez. Ramirez is also known for the Daredevil TV series (2015), Orange Is the New Black (2013), and more recently for Jordan Peele‘s Twilight Zone reboot for CBS All Access (now Paramount +).
Given the hot-off-the-press nature of the reveal, not much is in play at the moment or known in regards to plot or story thematic. But LATIN HORROR will keep you in-the-know as the project develops.
