ON THE HORRIZON: 'SLEEP TIGHT'
Jaume Balagueró brings the dark with his new suspense-thriller

Cesar works as a doorman in a Barcelona apartment building. Happiness eludes him and he feels the need to reaffirm his reasons for living on a daily basis. He goes about his day to day work mainly unnoticed by the residents of the building, but he pays close attention to them. He knows all the intimate details of their lives, everything about them, especially one of them. Clara is a happy-go-lucky young woman, who always looks on the positive side of things. Her cheery attitude to life makes Cesar’ skin crawl. He won’t be happy until he has wiped that smile of her face once and for all, because Cesar feeds off other people’s pain. He delights in the unhappiness and anguish of others and he loves nothing more than to plant the seed of misery and watch it grow. In Clara he has found the perfect target, and he will go to extreme lengths to make her life miserable.

Director Jaume Balagueró ([REC], [REC]2) is back with a disturbing new psychological thriller that will leave audiences squirming in their seats. With this new work, Balagueró takes a break from the more traditional horror format, exploring instead the more sophisticated mechanics of the genre. SLEEP TIGHT’s will lead the viewer deep inside into the warped mind of its protagonist, Cesar. As the tension builds, the audience is drawn further and further into the story, until reaching the final, devastating twist. Compelling from start to finish, Balagueró once again lives up to expectations in this fast paced and chilling new thriller.
SLEEP TIGHT - Poster 1
Says Balagueró (via release): "Following [REC] and [REC]2, both radical and brutal films in their form and narrative, I wanted to go back to investigate the more sophisticated mechanics of the thriller and suspense genre. It was then that a script fell into my hands which allowed me to explore these elements to the maximum. SLEEP TIGHT represents a return to a more conventional narrative form, but it is just as efficient in involving the spectator in the weave of the story, in the fast paced yet chilling game of Cesar with his victim Clara."
NOTE: LATIN HORROR will be showcasing Balagueró's earlier work - FRAGILE - as part of our forthcoming "The HORRORphiles #7 - CINCO DE MIEDO" event on May 3rd.
