Hopkins returns to hallowed ground in this supernatural thriller

A skeptical seminary student (Colin O’Donoghue) reluctantly attends an exorcism school at the Vatican. While in Rome, he meets an unorthodox priest (Anthony Hopkins), who introduces him to the darker side of his faith.

Sir Anthony Hopkins has carved out a solid niche in the minds of fans of horror and the supernatural with such memorable films as The Silence Of The Lambs (1991) in the iconic role of Dr. Hannibal Lecter, for which he was recognized with an Oscar for Best Actor (chianti anyone?), and Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) as Van Helsing (how would you like your stake?). He dipped his knighted toe back into the darker genre in 2010 in Universal's reprisal of The Wolfman, working opposite Benicio Del Toro's beast. Now he takes the full plunge again in the 'inspired by true events,' Mikael Håfström-helmed THE RITE.

Judging from the atmospheric trailer, Hopkins is back in his element, in this supernatural thriller about uncovering that the devil’s influence has reached to even one of the holiest places on Earth.
