This is NOT a review of 'Survival Of The Dead' (that is coming soon) - this is a brief look at the film's fun-filled New York City premiere that was held on Sunday, May 16, 2010.
I don't think a true horror fan could have spent a better spring Sunday afternoon than to have been in the presense of the creator and king of the Zombie genre - George A. Romero - while surrorunded by 200+ rotten Zombies! One thing, however, did manage to make it better still: it was all FREE!
The Zombie Walk, which started at Madision Square Park, and ended at the Village East Cinema, was part of the long-waited East coast premiere of Romero's sixth film in the '____ Of The Dead' anthology, 'SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD.'
Zombies from all walks of life took time out from their busy schedules in honor of their master. Students, ballerinas, business men, goths, police officers, and even parents with their maggots in tow were on hand. One clever couple took on Alfred Eisenstaedt's famous 1945 'V–J day in Times Square' photo (image #12). A Ghandi-like figure also made an appeareance. All-in-all, it was a complete family affair.
Romero was accompanied by long-time business partner/producer Peter Grunwald (image #9), and took questions from the undead in attendance before the screening of the film. 'Survival Of The Dead' is being distributed by MAGNET Releasing.
Survival of the Dead is currently available on VOD via Xbox, Playstation & Amazon and will officially hit theaters May 28, 2010.

AND IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Reports from Cannes today are that Romero will remake Dario Argento's 1975 horror/thriller Deep Red in 3D!!!
