“You wanna play games MOTHERFUCKER?!”
In a surprising and soon to be controversial spin-off from the ‘SAW‘ franchise, Lionsgate released “SPIRAL from the book of SAW” trailer. The film follows “esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella)” as they dive into a twisted world of justice that only the SAW franchise can deliver.

It seems that with this ninth installment of the SAW franchise they are pushing the envelope by making police officers the murder victims. A clear reflection of the tension in our community and its fear of police officers. In this case could the description in the synopsis of the “city’s gruesome past” be a history of racism, racial profiling and police brutality?

SPIRAL stars Chris Rock, Max Minghella, Marisol Nichols, and Samuel L. Jackson, and it brings back the original producing SAW team of Mark Burg and Oren Koules. Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and written by Josh Stolberg & Pete Goldfinger.

SPIRAL saws its way into theaters May 15, 2020.
