A soldier awakens on a warship littered with corpses, her memories fragmented. She embarks on a dangerous journey, battling adversaries and struggling to survive.
THE ARGENTINIAN ACTION-HORROR FILM ‘EYE OF THE ABYSS‘ (Los Ojos del Abismo), directed by Daniel De La Vega (On The 3rd Day, The Last Heretic, White Coffin), has sold in advance of its scheduled showcase at Cannes’ Blood Window Market, Verity reported earlier in the week, which is set for May 19th. The property has been picked up by Uncork’d Entertainment for distribution in the U.S. and various international markets, including U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
The film will presented by Ventana Sur’s Latin American horror and fantasy film platform, which has a strong emphasis on South America. The deal was brokered by Keith Leopard of Uncork’d, and Arelis Ruiz of Del Toro Films (Argentina).
The action-horror movie revolves around a soldier who wakes up aboard a warship in the depths of the South Atlantic in 1982, and finds herself surrounded by corpses, her memory a labyrinth. When soldiers storm the ship, she must strike with lethal precision in a desperate fight for survival.
Daniel De la Vega was born in Buenos Aires in 1972. He’s also directed the multi-award winning short films Last Dinner, Deep Dream, and The Hammer, which was awarded “Best Short Film” at Sitges. He was also the co-writer and co-director of the horror film Jennifer’s Shadow (2003), starring Faye Dunaway and filmed completely in Argentina for the American market.
The film is currently in post production, and Uncork’d plans to a release it during the final quarter of 2024.
LATIN HORROR will keep an eye on this title and keep you informed.
