Universal Pictures dropped a terrifying second trailer for the upcoming Nia DaCosta’s ‘Candyman‘.
“KILL EVERY ONE“
– Candyman
This time around with the second trailer the talented actor Colman Domingo from ‘Fear the Walking Dead‘ is narrating the chilling story of Candyman. Domingo‘s story gives us a new tragic mythology grounded in police brutality.
Later on in the trailer, we get to see Vanessa Estelle Williams give us a warning that she does not want todo anything with Candyman. It is a funny, nostalgic moment as Williams is reprising he role as Anne-Marie McCoy from the original 1992 Candyman. By the end of the trailer we get our first glimpse of Tony Todd as the iconic character that he made famous, Candyman.
This Candyman trailer is definitely telling us that Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) is metamorphisisng into Candyman. It’s like watching Tony Todd passing the baton to Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. A little back story on the character Anthony McCoy. He is the son of Anne-Marie McCoy and the little boy that Helen Lyle (Virginia Madsen) saves in the original movie. Now all grown up McCoy returns to a gentrified Cabrini Green. I’m loving how well connected this Nia DaCosta’s Candyman is to the original. Can’t wait to see it!
