CHUCKY IS BACK and he has brought new toys to play with! Orion Pictures just release the new ‘Child’s Play’ trailer and it looks AMAZINGLY FUN!!! The trailer introduces the new Karen Barclay, played by Latina actress, Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation, Legion), Andy played by Gabriel Bateman (Benji) and Detective Mike Norris, played by Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta). Orion Pictures have been very careful of showing Chucky by hiding him in silhouette in the trailer, only showing his aftermath of terror. Which I think is a great idea because it makes me wait in anticipation to hear the new GOOD GUYS voice and those amazing one liners that only Chucky can deliver. 

Child’s Play is produced by Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg, who produces the highly successful ‘IT‘. Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) is the director and the film is written by Tyler Burton Smith. Lars is a newcomer to the industry. He first made an impression with ‘Wall‘, a post-apocalyptic short film that caught Hollywood’s attention but it was his followup, the short film, Polariod that caught Dimension Films eye. Currently, Polariod is in development to become a feature film.

Orion Pictures has released an awesome marking campaign which includes two websites and tons of content to engage the fans and introduce the new Chucky.  KaslanCorp.com and BestBuddi.com are the websites. Kaslan Corp is the technology company that makes drones, vacuums based around the Kaslan microchip. It looks like Chucky is going to get an upgrade and a brand change. Chucky is no longer a under the “Good Guys” brand but now a “Buddi”. 

Best Buddi is more like the Official site with cartoons and wallpapers for downloads.

Child’s Play hits theaters on June 21, 2019.
