The 1973 cult classic, The Exorcist, gets expanded curatorial attention and added to the permanent display collection at MOMI.
The Museum of the Moving Image has invited LATIN HORROR and its members and followers to a specialized tour within its Behind the Screen exhibition in partnership with Carnegie Hall’s Nuestros sonidos (Our Sounds), a joyous, ongoing celebration of the vibrant sounds, pioneering rhythms, endlessly diverse traditions, and enormous influence of Latin culture in the United States. With this tour, explore the artistry and talent of often overlooked Latin American and Caribbean artists in film and television history, diving into the work of sound designer Gonzalo Gavira who created groundbreaking sound effects for The Exorcist; wig-maker Josephine Turner; actress Rita Moreno; and more. Recommended for ages 6 and up.
The exhibit has also placed the animatronic display used in the film centrally making it the centerpiece of content-relational ephemera. The updated showcase will make your head spin.
