BLACK PHONE 2: INTERVIEW with ARIANNA RIVAS

0

The Grabber has continued to cement his legacy at the box office.

Black Phone 2, the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2021 film The Black Phone, has demonstrated steady and impressive performance, drawing in both horror enthusiasts and general audiences. During its opening weekend, Black Phone 2 debuted at number one, earning $27.3 million domestically and $42.8 million worldwide. As of mid-November, the film has surpassed $122 million in global revenue—an undeniable success for Blumhouse, especially given its modest $30 million budget.

In this installment, Black Phone 2 reunites viewers with Finney (Mason Thames), Gwen (Madeleine McGraw), Terrence (Jeremy Davies), The Grabber (Ethan Hawke), and Miguel Mora (Ernesto) for a harrowing new chapter set at a Christian camp. Gwen emerges as the central protagonist, grappling with a haunting connection to the camp, while Finney continues to suffer from the emotional trauma caused by the events of the original film. Miguel Mora, who previously portrayed the deceased Robin, now takes on the role of Ernesto, Robin’s younger brother. Together, the returning characters confront a reimagined and now dream-demon version of The Grabber, who appears more vicious and terrifying than ever.

The cast is further strengthened by the addition of Oscar-nominated Mexican actor Demián Bichir, who portrays the camp’s owner. He is joined by Dominican actress Arianna Rivas, who plays Mustang, a ranch hand and the owner’s niece.

Morán of Latin Horror recently had the opportunity to speak with Arianna Rivas, who discussed her unexpected casting experience, the role that horses played in shaping her performance, her excitement about collaborating with fellow Latino actors, and the influence her sister had on her love of the horror genre. The full interview can be found below.

BLACK PHONE 2 will be available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on December 23rd, 2025.
