Hugh Grant Will Test our Faith in A24’s Religious Horror ‘HERETIC’

0

“Two young missionaries are forced to prove their faith when they knock on the wrong door and are greeted by a diabolical Mr. Reed, becoming ensnared in his deadly game of cat-and-mouse.”

A24 has lit the wick on the religious horror-scented trailer for HERETIC, starring Hugh Grant. And this one smells creepy AF! The premise pivots on two Mormon missionaries who are spreading their gospel door-to-door and come upon the wrong house—they can check in—but cannot check out, at least not without solving a phalanx of mental mazes geared to test their collective budding faiths and will for salvation.

We are not sure who Hugh’s character is or what drives him, but he seems to have a theological ax to grind and a divinical promise to keep: “It will make your hearts beat faster,” he relays to his captive missionaries. “It may even make you want to die…You will witness a miracle.”

The film is is written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (A Quiet Place), and co-stars Chloe East (The Fablemans) and Sophie Thatcher (MaXXXine).

Looking forward to the miracle of Blueberry Pie-scented candle promo swag. 😉 Heretic hits theaters November 15, 2024.
