Streaming behemoth NetFlix has dropped the first official teaser for Guillermo del Toro‘s highly-anticipated re-imagining of Carlo Collodi‘s PINOCCHIO—in English and Spanish—and LATIN HORROR is pleased to have them both! The production is co-helmed along with Mark Gustafson.
No one, aside from del Toro, is happier to know that this animated project is finally seeing the light of day, as we’ve had our eye on it through a series of fits, false starts and tanks since 2012! I kid you not. Needless to say, we have lit a velón (a large glass-encased candle) in honor of the NetFlix Gods who made this possible after others could not or would not bring our favorite wooden boy to life—¡Gracias!
Synopsis: Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro reinvents Carlo Collodi’s classic tale of the wooden marionette who is magically brought to life in order to mend the heart of a grieving woodcarver named Geppetto. This whimsical, stop-motion musical directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson follows the mischievous and disobedient adventures of Pinocchio in his pursuit of a place in the world.
The Cast: The film features an all-star ensemble voice cast with Ewan McGregor as Cricket, David Bradley as Geppetto, and introducing Gregory Mann as Pinocchio. Other cast includes Finn Wolfhard, Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, Burn Gorman, with Academy Award® winner Christoph Waltz and Academy Award® winner Tilda Swinton.
