FilmTeaser / Trailer

CBS Films and Guillermo del Toro released a teaser trailer for the anthology,  ‘SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK‘. Unlike the previous 4 teaser TV Spots, which were more like a Monster (character) introduction, this teaser introduces the world that these stories revolve around.

From its introduction of the classic American town of Mill Valley, Pennsylvania to the spooky old house, we’re guided by revenge as Sarah Bellows explains, “This town has told  stories about me,  horrible stories. But they don’t realize, I have scary stories of my own.” An eerie rendition of “Over the Rainbow” accompanies this trailer with dark scary images of the Big ToeJangly ManPale Lady and Red Spot. A police chief says, “Sarah Bellows’s book, these stories write themselves, it all comes alive” as we see young teenagers in danger. The movie is shaping up to be a must see summer flick for us horror fans.

At a press conference in Hollywood, Guillermo del Toro went on to say,

“We did American Idol with the stories in the writer’s room. We distilled it to about five or six that we liked the most. Some of them are told in their entirety. Some others are referenced. Those that know the books will see more than people that haven’t read the book because some of them are there in name, or fused one with another or with a song or a rhyme. But we basically distilled it to the ones that everybody seems to remember the most. The books obviously have many, many more stories so this could go on or not but we’ve said ‘Let’s do the Greatest Hits.’”
