Zack Snyder Returns to Flesh Eating Zombies in ‘ARMY OF THE DEAD’ Trailer

Netflix just drop Zack Snyder‘s ‘ARMY OF THE DEAD‘ Trailer. This marks Snyders return to the genre that made him a commercial Artist. Zack was the director of the hit film and remake of George Romero‘s ‘Dawn of the Dead‘.

ARMY OF THE DEAD is action packed crime heist, zombie flick that stars former WWE prowrestler, Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Infinity War, Blade Runner 2049). After a Zombie outbreak, the film follows a group of mercenaries trying to pull-off a heist in Las Vegas, which is a quarantine zone.

The film also stars Mexican actress Ana de la Reguera and Mexican-Americanas Raúl Castillo as well as Ella Purnell, Matthias Schweighöfer, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada, Michael Cassidy, and Garret Dillahunt. This is an original story by Snyder and the screenplay is by Zack, Shay Hatten and Joby Harold. According to Screen Rant, ARMY OF THE DEAD will pay tribute to George A. Romero by using “low-budget practical effects“.

The trailer to ARMY OF THE DEAD is like an action version of ‘Ocean’s Eleven‘ meets ‘Dawn of the Dead‘. This trailer was lukewarm for me as I think it needed more zombie attack clips. A Zombie Elvis wasn’t enough for this Flesheater. And Yeah! That zombie hoard was so damn predictable.

ARMY OF THE DEAD premiers on Netflix, May 21, 2021.
