WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW is this memorizing teaser-trailer to Warner Bros. Pictures‘ forthcoming psychological thriller JOKER: Folie à Deux (aka Joker 2), which dropped immediately after showcasing at CinemaCon. Directed and produced by Arkham Asylum alum Todd Phillips (Joker 2019), this teaser is a stunning way to get our attention: we can see where the $200 million budget went…up on the screen! The film’s cinematography and production design look amazing (thanks to Lawrence Sher and Mark Friedberg, respectively)!

Joaquin Phoenix returns as the tortured anti-hero, Arthur Fleck. And this time he is not running solo through the dank streets of Gotham, as Lady Gaga will be riding shotgun as the acrobatic and deadly henchwoman, Harley Quinn (and yes, it seems Harley loves her some Joker). Zazie Olivia Beetz is also back as stunning single mother/neighbor, Sophie Dumondwho as we knowmay or may not be real, but could certainly serve as a unique foil to Arthur and Harley’s budding romance (I’m just spit-balling here), imagined or otherwise. That’s the thing about good psychological horror: it gets the mind working.  😉

Now that we’ve been treated to the film’s visual bona fides, waiting until October 4, 2024 to see this demented musical(!) spectacle in the U.S. with Phoenix and Gaga opposite each other, on IMAX, seems rather tortuous. It’s enough to make you flip your stylish straightjacket!

But enough of this fanboy’s musings, let’s peep the said dazzling trailer below (as well as the film’s one-sheet after the jump) —

Edwin "El Miedo" Pagán
Edwin "El Miedo" Pagán is the Founder-In-Chief of LATIN HORROR. Pagán is a writer, filmmaker and life-long horror fan. In 2008 he founded LATIN HORROR, an online niche market website specializing in Latin-influenced horror, its documentation, and promotion as a distinct genre. Pagán is at the forefront of the Latin "Dark Creative Expressionist" movement, a term he coined as a means of identifying the millions of lost souls who live outside the rim of mainstream society and whose lifestyle and work is grounded in horror, the macabre, and gothic arts. Currently, he is penning a book entitled 'MIEDO - The History of Latin Horror.' Trivia: He is noted for ending his written correspondence with the offbeat salutation 'There will be SANGRE!'
